Divine Signs

Ever since I can remember, I’ve experienced profound, synchronistic moments in my life .  Unbelievable, and almost magical, moments.

They’ve offered me the gift of peace and a sense of deep knowing that there is a force greater than ourselves at work here.  That force, I whole-heartedly believe, is the essence of love.

Eleonore is the name of my late grandmother.  She always felt like ‘home’ to me.  A guiding light, and soft place to land, no matter my age.

I’ll never forget the night I got the call that she had taken her last breath - suddenly and unexpectedly.  None of us were ready for the deepest root of our family tree to be uplifted.

I often see divine signs of her divine presence.  I feel her when ladybugs show up in the most random places like at the bottom of a box of books, or on my desk in my office.  They always show up exactly when I need them.  Ladybugs became such a significant sign of her presence, I decided to thoughtfully place ladybugs on the pages for the little people to find on the pages of every one of my books.

I met a woman last weekend, who would become part of one of those divine synchronistic moments for me.   I’ll set the stage for you.  It was the end of day two of a market.  I had sold out of all of the copies of my children’s book, “Lily’s Heavy Heart” but left one for the display.  Several people had come to buy the book and I directed them to online purchasing, because I just couldn’t sell my last copy.

But then, I sold it.

Two friends approached my table, one had picked up my book “Lily’s Loud Mouth”, and started to read the messaging inside. The other woman gazed over at the yellow book, the one about grief and asked, “What’s this one about?”

I replied, “It’s a gentle introduction to loss and grief for children.”  I looked up at her only to see that look of grief that I had seen before in other women.  It had the feel of the deepest layer of grief one could experience.  She grabbed the book, placed it before me and said “I’ll take this one, please.”

I just knew I had to let that last copy go.  She needed it.  I didn’t ask why.  I didn’t need to know the story.

I did ask her to whom she wanted me to make the book out to and she replied.

“My five year old daughter please. Her name is Eleanore.”

“Eleanore?” I asked, just to make sure I heard her correctly..

“Yes, Eleanore.”

This time, I looked up at her, my eyes beginning to water and a lump filling in my throat.

I explained to her the significance of the name ‘Eleanore’ in my life and the reason behind the ladybugs in my books.  She was speechless, I was crying.

What a gift that was for me.  A divine sign from my grandmother reminding me that this path is the right path for me.  This path will change lives, one book at a time.

What signs do you see from above? I’d love to hear about it.  Send me a note or an email about a synchronistic event you’ve experienced - those stories fill my heart!
